TSM - Business & Logistics Consulting
Merry X-Mas and a Happy New Year 2012!21.12.11
The TSM-staff wishes you, our clients, a happy new year. The year 2011 was not easy for some of you. It was the year of refocusing and consolidation. Austria was spared with insolvences of big players, not so abroad. However remember that a crisis for some is an opportunity for others. Markets are cleaned from over capacities, the labor market has a supply that is bigger than its demand, forcing wages to stabilize. The transport sector is dropping prices allowing profitable export to new areas. Investment into- or renewal of production infrastructure has never been so cheap.
Some of these conditions might change 2012, some of them might stay. The key to success in such an environment is a strategy, and for that you need a vision. We can help you with developing a vision, we can help you formulating it into a strategy. The last part -- success -- is only yours to enjoy.
If you have the feeling that -facing the existing and upcoming challenges- you lack a company vision, or that its properly reflected in your strategy, let us talk about it.
Education - Sciences - Innovation; Immediate Action is required!30.11.11
Dear reader, we have participated in the event: Invitation for the event: "Education- Sciences - Innovation. To see the invitation follow the hyperlink.
We would like to critically inform you in brief about our experience and conclusions we have drawn from the event:
1) We found that there were -with few exceptions- only "insiders" from science circles present in the event. That showed us, that those who are needed to support sciences in Austria, namely the average inhabitant and tax payer in this event have not been properly adressed.
2) It is not a good advise to mourn about the negative attitude of Austrian citizens against sciences and (certain) technologies that are considered as dangerous. It would better to break up (communication) borders and to open up and informalize the communication between public and institutional sciences which could and should lead into mutual durable interactions also and specifically with not institutionally educated but interested citizens for specific research projects.
3) Obviously there were clear remarks that lack of funds and the way how science and research are infused with available funds are not really productive today. Partly ignorance and partly mere indifference of deciding politicians have been raised as important factors for present unpleasant situation. To our opinion, this just reflects the indifference of "normal people" who cannot see and feel the good that science and research does to them.
Over all we felt that among all debaters especially Dr. Sabine Seidler was most open to listen and to discuss alternatives to break up communication blokades and change the mind setting on either sides, on side of scientists and institutions and on side of population and tax payers.
TSM Holds Lecture on UAS (University of Applied Sciences) for Logistics in Vienna29.04.11
On 26/04/2011 at the invitation of the UAS for logistics in Vienna a lecture by the company Time-Sharing Management GmbH. (in short TSM) was held. Impressively the conviction was conveyed that logistics will be an increasingly important area of business development by the coming years.
The continuing and increasingly rising commodity and fuel prices will make sure that entrepreneurs need to rethink their logistic strategies from scratch.
The students only a few days before their final written exam have participated with full commitment to the lecture and dedicated to the follow up workshop.
Based on various assumptions (which are actually based on a reading list, that 1 week before the lecture was made available. refer to reading list via this HYPERLINK) Working groups were askednto develop logistic solution scenarios for the given economic conditions. As aggravating condition the task was announced shortly before the start of the lecture for the first time and in only 25 minutes the groups had to develop the results and then presented in a further 5 minutes.
The challenge to the participants was that there was no possibility of further research in the given short time and possible solutions to be developed which would provide a solid basis for further research. In short, the challenge was mastered brilliantly by the working groups.
If you want to experience the presentation and the task in more detail, both can be found on this link! For direct contact contact us or send us an E-Mail.
TSM attended an event of L.S.Z. Consulting with the subject: "Unified Communication & VoIP"11.03.11
The event was aligned high-class and worth to see. Technical developments in the area of "Unified Communication" and "VoIP" have been presented in details and technically brilliant.
It had to be noted that in all lectures there was a lack of focus on the users and their perception the new "technological wonder-world". It is always the users who make technological projects a success or failure and thus whether there will ever be an ROI (Return on Investment) in such an investment or not.
At this point like in many other cases the internal communication and marketing and especially the business processes come into the game. If these are not reflecting the necessities and capabilities of these new media, the long term failure of such project is programmed already.
By the wayprocesses: in the round table discussion regarding "How will new media like "Instant Messaging", "Bloggs" and "Social Media" influence our customers- / suppliers relationship? Facebook, Xing, Twitter & Co. - which challenges will arise at working desks from usage of such media?" many very provocative and (self-)critical statements have been made. Some questions and challenges will be solvable only with radically new management approach.
Questions that look for replies in enterprises with access to social media:
How could social media enable my business? How should employees react on critics in social media? What may they post and what not? Who may / must post? Who controls the content and in which periodicity? Which content is "attractive" and "positively connoted"? Business processes and "policies" as reply to challenges originating from usage of social media? Will there be a growing "B2B (Business to Business) - world" in social media?
Key messages from the round table discussion in short:
If you engage in social media you need sufficient ressources who regularly and in short intervals confront with the content. Time is the most critical factor to intercept negative postings (snowball - effect). Critical statements may not be replied by contradiciton but bya positive propositions.
The event in any case was worth seeing and listening. If you are looking for replies to the questions put above or want to discuss further with us, contact us!
